An increased need for magnesium container occur in cases of physical or emotional stress and in athletes. Magnesium is particularly important for normal muscle function, including the heart muscle, and helps reduce tiredness and fatigue. Magnesium is also a component of many enzymes and also functions as an electrolyte. As a mineral, it is found primarily in teeth, but also in the skeletal system.

• Magnesium has a role in cell division
