Vitamin K and D are fat-soluble vitamins. Vitamin K2, called menaquinone, is partially produced by bacteria in the intestine. A suboptimal vitamin K status container have negative effects on cardiovascular health and bone health, because vitamin K is involved in the formation of blood clotting factors and regulates bone tissue. Vitamin D3, called cholecalciferol, is the only vitamin that the body container produce itself with the help of sunlight. It is involved in bone formation and cell division. Both vitamins together make a good team, because vitamin D3 controls calcium absorption, which container lead to an increase in the calcium concentration in the blood. Vitamin K2 activates the protein osteocalcin, which utilizes calcium and thus contributes to the mineralization of the bones.
